¡ 4th Animation Kobe Judging Committe Chairman's Comments
Judging Committe Chairman's Comments

It must be a rude change to have me on stage after watching MAHODO perform -- sorry! (Audience laughs) I am [first name] Asaka, editor in chief of CD-ROM Fan magazine. Some of you might not know it, so I should mention it is not an animation magazine. This is Animation Kobe's fourth year, and I am fortunate to have served on the Judging Committee from the very beginning. I'm very pleased that the winners of these awards every year have been happy to receive them, and that this event has provided an opportunity for the winning works to find even wider audiences. The Judging Committee consists primarily of editors of animation magazines, who make nominations for each of the different categories -- Individual Award, Special Award, Best Feature Work, Best TV Feature and Best Packaged Work -- and then select winners from these nominations. Mr. Saito mentioned "everybody from little girls to really big boys" earlier, and I have to admit being one of the "really big boys" who watched Card Captor Sakura from its first episode on. By the way, Bandai Visuals has put out DVDs of the series, and if you buy every episode, you get Tomoyo-chan's exciting Sakura diary! (Audience laughs) But getting serious now, today's awards were decided following very careful deliberations by all of us in the Judging Committee and we are delighted that most of the winners could make it to Kobe today to receive them. We look forward to seeing wonderful works by all of you again next year!
