Animation Kobe - Packaged Work Award
"Aono 6 go `Blue Submarine No.6`"

Judge's Comment
Hello, I am [first name] Arinaga, editor in chief of Dengeki Animation Magazine. This is my second year in a row as an Animation Kobe judge, which is really more than I deserve, and I'm very honored to participate in this capacity. I'll do my best to keep the magazine interesting, so as to be asked back next year! Turning to Blue Submarine No. 6, the word "original" has been bandied about pretty casually of late, but I believe it would be accurate to say that the reason this work was selected by the judges was that we all felt a spirit of originality in its production process. As an amateur scuba diver, I personally think the depiction of water using digital technology was particularly spectacular. Heartfelt congratulations!
Director Mahiro Maeda Comment
Thank you. This was my first work as a director, and the company is new and the staff are all more or less newcomers, so we spent about three years on this not really caring how people see us, and as for me personally, there are still a lot of points that I might have done differently now. At the same time, a lot of faces are popping up in my mind -- 3D director [first name] Suzuki and camera director [first name] Fukushi, for example, neither of whom could come here today. Then there's all the people whose faces I don't know -- outsource staff, our Korean subcontractor's staff. This award being given to the finished work as a whole, their contributions played a large part as well. I'm very proud and honored to have won this award, on behalf of everyone involved. Thank you very much.
