"I'd like to thank the judges and the people of Kobe for granting me the
Kobe Award. I've been a director now for seven or eight years, and the lead
character of my very first work was played by Kamitani Akira. He was Nyarome
in Moretsu Ataro, and I still remember clearly how, after we finished recordin
g the dialogue, he congratulated me on my debut, and all of the voice actors
applauded. I've been a director now for some years, but I've never heard
of anyone else debuting the way I did, namely by having everyone involved
offer their congratulations. When I think of that, I realize how fortunate
I've been in working with so many wonderful people ム Kamitani-san and other
voice actors, animators, producers, sponsors... This Kobe Award is given
to an individual, but I believe it was granted to me because the work stood
out, and that in turn means its high quality was recognized. So I should
say I've won this award thanks to my creative staff and all the other people
involved in making this film. I truly value my encounters with the talented
people who make my work so special, and intend to keep working hard to make
good animation film with their help."
